The College of Education for Pure Sciences Organizes a Scientific Seminar on Cyber Extortion and Violent Extremism.

The Human Rights Unit at the College of Education for Pure Sciences (in cooperation with the Subcommittee for Combating Violent Extremism Leading to Terrorism) organized a scientific seminar entitled “Cyber ​​Extortion and Violent Extremism: Between Legal Criminalization and Community Prevention Strategies.”

The seminar was presented by Mr. Mustafa Ahmed Kadhim Al-Wazni, Director of the Extremism Division at the Kerbala Security Directorate.

The seminar was attended by a number of specialists and interested parties, including Mr. Muntadhar Nahi Ghalib Al-Hasnawi, Director of the Preventive Security Department at the Karbala Security Directorate; Dr. Hussein Maher, Head of the Counter-Extremism Division at the Governorate Office; and Engineer Nawras, Rapporteur of the Subcommittee for Combating Extremism.

The seminar was organized in cooperation with Mr. Ali Safaa Karim Al-Aboudi, a member of the committee representing university students in Karbala Governorate, as part of joint efforts to raise community awareness of the dangers of extremism and cybercrime, and to instill concepts of intellectual and behavioral security among young people. This seminar aimed to explore the dangers of cyber extortion and its negative effects on individuals and society. It also reviewed the legal frameworks that criminalize these phenomena and mechanisms for mitigating them, in addition to highlighting key community-based prevention and awareness strategies.

At the conclusion of the seminar, the Dean of the College emphasized the importance of collaboration among academic, security, and community institutions to confront these challenges and promote a culture of safe technology use. She then presented the organizing team with a certificate of appreciation for their efforts in preparing and organizing the seminar, praising their spirit of cooperation and teamwork, which contributed effectively to achieving the seminar’s objectives.
