The College of Education for Pure Sciences Organizes a Scientific Workshop on “Women Between Silence and Societal Violence”

The Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Education for Pure Sciences organized a scientific workshop entitled “Women Between Silence and Societal Violence.”

The workshop was presented by Assistant Lecturer Hala Khudair.

This workshop aimed to highlight the social issues facing women and to raise awareness of their role and rights within and outside the academic community. It explained the concept of societal violence in its various forms, whether verbal, psychological, or social, and the resulting negative effects that sometimes lead women to remain silent for fear of social stigma or loss of support.

The workshop covered several topics related to the reasons for this silence, including social customs, weak legal awareness, and a lack of trust in protection mechanisms. It also emphasized the importance of breaking the silence by disseminating a culture of rights, empowering women scientifically and intellectually, and supporting them within educational institutions, particularly in scientific departments such as the Department of Mathematics, which is considered an effective environment for cultivating awareness and building a balanced academic personality.

The presenter recommended further attention to such topics. Yes, confronting societal violence is a shared responsibility that requires concerted efforts between the family, educational institutions, and society, while promoting the values of respect, justice, and equality, in order to guarantee women their human and scientific status and their active role in building society.
