The College of Education for Pure Sciences Organizes the Second Martyr’s Cultural Festival…

Under the patronage of the President of the University of Kerbala, Prof. Dr. Sabah Wajid Ali, and the supervision of the Dean of the College of Education for Pure Sciences, Prof. Dr. Hamida Aidan Salman, the College of Education for Pure Sciences, in cooperation with the Martyrs Foundation – Kerbala Branch and the Sheikh Al-Kulayni Complex/Holy Abbasid Shrine, organized the Second Martyr’s Cultural Festival under the slogan:

“The Pulse of the Nation… We Live in Their Memory”

The festival began with a recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, followed by Surah Al-Fatihah for the souls of Iraq’s righteous martyrs, and then the Iraqi national anthem. The festival’s activities then commenced with a speech by the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Hamida Aidan Salman, in which she highlighted the injustice of the defunct Ba’athist regime, which perpetrated the most heinous forms of oppression, murder, and exclusion, and sought to obliterate national identity, violate rights, and silence the voice of truth. Therefore, it is essential to expose the crimes of that criminal regime and document the suffering of the thousands of innocent people who disappeared in prisons and mass graves, so that the truth remains a testament and the tragedies of the past are never repeated.

Following this, a representative of the Martyrs Foundation (Dr. Ahmed Aboud Al-Kriti) spoke about the magnitude of the martyrs’ sacrifices and the Foundation’s role in supporting their families. He explained that this event is not merely a celebration or commemoration, but a message of loyalty and appreciation to our righteous martyrs who sacrificed their lives and pure blood so that our nation may remain strong and proud, and to protect its people from oppression and tyranny. The Foundation remains committed to pursuing the rights of the martyrs and their families, ensuring that their sacrifices remain etched in the collective memory of the nation.

The cultural festival also included a video presentation about the Martyrs’ Cemetery, highlighting some of the Ba’ath Party’s crimes against the Iraqi people, with the aim of documenting historical events and strengthening collective awareness. A special play was also performed by artists and actors from the Martyrs Foundation, addressing national and humanitarian themes and embodying the meaning of sacrifice and selflessness.

The festival session concluded with expressions of deep appreciation for our heroic martyrs who gave their most precious possession for the sake of our beloved Iraq, along with thanks to all the supporting entities and organizing committees that contributed to the festival’s resounding success.
