The Chemistry Department at the College of Education for Pure Sciences organized a scientific workshop entitled “The Role of Polymers and Sustainable Energy in Serving Society.”

The workshop was presented by: Prof. Dr. Mohammed Nadhim Bahjat Al-Bayati, Asst. Lect. Zahraa Mushtaq Abdul-A’immah, and Asst. Lect. Hanan Qais Saadoun.

This workshop aimed to explain the integration between polymer science and sustainable energy technologies in serving society. It highlighted the vital role of polymers in the medical, industrial, and insulation fields, as well as their role in reducing pollution through biodegradable polymers.

The workshop covered several topics, including the definition of polymers, their basic properties, and their importance in industrial and environmental applications. It also explored the societal uses of polymers and their role in medicine, pharmaceuticals, construction, insulation, and biodegradable materials, as well as their role in pollution reduction.

The researchers recommended the importance of focusing on such topics due to the crucial role of modern technology in supporting sustainable development and meeting societal needs in environmentally friendly and economically viable ways. In addition to encouraging joint research between the chemistry, energy and environment departments to promote integration between polymers and sustainable energy technologies.
