A lecturer in the College of Education for Pure Sciences / Department of Biology, Assistant Professor Dr. (Hiyam Abdel-Reza Karim), obtained an acceptance to publish a scientific article entitled (Studying the effect of sex on the immune response of leukemia patients and those infected with the emerging corona virus than others) by the Scientific Articles Committee in Presidency of the University of Karbala after the article fulfills all publishing conditions. (Prof. Dr. Hayam Abdel-Reza Karim) stated that the Corona virus-19 is a highly contagious respiratory disease caused by the virus (SARS-COV-2) that spreads from person to person through the droplets emitted when the infected person coughs, sneezes, or speaks, and there are five Dominant variants spread among the world’s population (alpha variant, beta variant, Gamma variant, delta variant, and Omicron variant) as it consists of four proteins: the spike glyco protein, which forms the spikes on the surface of the virus that give it the distinctive coronary shape responsible About allowing the virus to bind to the host cell membrane through receptors on the cell membrane known as angiotensin converting enzyme II – as for the envelope proteins, nucleocapsid proteins, and membrane proteins, these proteins together form the viral envelope, and it is important to know that the virus can live at a temperature of 60 degrees Celsius For several years, but with the rise in temperatures, the resistance to the virus decreases, and the decrease in air temperature and the high humidity in the air increase its lifespan on the surfaces on which it resides, as it can live at a temperature of 60 degrees below Zero, in addition to that the virus is sensitive to ultraviolet radiation. As for the optimal pH number for its reproduction, it is 7.2, as it does not tolerate acids or alkalis. There are some fatty compounds that have the effectiveness in killing the virus, which are (antiseptic chlorine, peracetic acid, chloroform, diethyl ether, and ethyl alcohol at a concentration 75%) As for the compound chlorhexidine, it does not have the ability to kill the virus. Corona virus disease-19 causes immunological changes in cases of moderate or severe infection, depending on the difference in the immune response from one person to another, as the research results showed the gradual occurrence of lymphocytopenia and the depletion of subgroups of lymphocytes, in addition to the effect of some other diseases in increasing the severity of the infection, Some people can develop severe symptoms of the disease even though they are still young, as a result of an aggressive immune response.
