The Department of Biology is Holding a Seminar for a Doctoral Student on the Effect of the Rapeutically Induced Hypothyroidism on Total Antioxidants in Adult Male Rabbits

Seminar Discussion

As part of the scientific activities organized by the Department of Biology, a seminar was held for the student Zahraa Ali Habib, under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Batoul Abbas Hussein, entitled “The Effect of Therapeutically Induced Hypothyroidism on Total Antioxidants in Adult Male Rabbits.”
This seminar aimed to highlight the high incidence of digestive disorders and their diseases currently, which may be caused by thyroid dysfunction. Delayed detection and diagnosis pose a significant risk. The current study aimed to determine the role of the aqueous extract of the raspberry (Rubus plicatus) fruit in reducing the effects of digestive disorders by assessing oxidative stress indicators (MDA and total antioxidant). The seminar also included several axes to know the effect of induced hypothyroidism in adult male rabbits on digestive disorders. Twenty adult male rabbits were used, distributed into four groups with (5) animals per group, their weights ranged between 1500-2000 grams, and they were dosed orally for 6 weeks, and then blood was withdrawn after the end of the experiment period of 6 weeks to measure total antioxidants and MDA. We wish the student more success and excellence to complete her scientific career.
