Master thesis discussion

The Department of Biology Sciences College of Education for Pure Sciences / University of Karbala, discussed a master’s thesis tagged (a phenotypic study of some types of order Calanoida Crustacea: Copepoda from the central region of Iraq), by student Hajar Muhammad Kazem Al-Mimar, and under the supervision of Prof. Hanan Zuwair Mikhlif Al-Daami, on Monday 11/30/2020, and the aim of the study was that there was no detailed taxonomic study on the types of calanoida in the water bodies in central Iraq and for the enrichment of the Iraqi animal group by registering or describing new species, describing and drawing the species and establishing classification keys For families, genera and species under study.
From the results of the study, ten new species were recorded for the first time for the Iraqi group of the order Calanoida. During the study it was found that the types of the family Pseudodiaptomidae are the most widespread among the research sites that were adopted during the research. The importance of external phenotypic features in the taxonomic process. The external appearance of the body and other external phenotypic characteristics of the suffixes have been relied upon, and their importance in the taxonomic process has been demonstrated.
The discussion resulted in several recommendations, including: Conducting other taxonomic studies covering the regions of the central Euphrates governorates, in particular, and the governorates of Iraq in general.
