The Chemistry Department at the College of Education for Pure Sciences organized a scientific seminar entitled “Women and Small Businesses: Opportunities for Economic Growth.”
The seminar was presented by Assistant Lecturer Alaa Hadi Hussein.
This seminar aimed to highlight the role of women in establishing and managing small businesses as an effective means of achieving economic empowerment, increasing family income, reducing unemployment rates, and contributing to the diversification of the national economy. It also emphasized the importance of supporting women with training, funding, and appropriate legislation to enhance their participation in sustainable development and achieve comprehensive economic growth.
The seminar covered several topics, including the concept of small businesses, their economic importance, their role in supporting the local economy and diversifying income sources, and the current state of women’s participation in the labor market.
The presenter recommended focusing on such topics to promote a culture of entrepreneurship among women by incorporating small business concepts into educational programs.
She also recommended providing specialized training programs in management, marketing, and financial planning. And facilitating the procedures for obtaining loans and financial support for women’s projects.
