The College of Education for Pure Sciences organizes a training course on the diagnosis and prevention of plant pathogenic fungi.

The Department of Life Sciences at the College of Education for Pure Sciences organized a training course entitled “Diagnosis and Prevention of Plant Pathogenic Fungi.”

The course was presented by the following faculty members:
Prof. Dr. Ban Taha Mohammed, Prof. Dr. Nibal Amteir Tarad, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Intizar Jabbar Mohammed.

This course aimed to introduce participants to the modern fundamentals of diagnosing and treating diseases of indoor ornamental plants. It also aimed to enable trainees to differentiate between pathological diseases, physiological disorders, and insect infestations, while understanding the role of the indoor environment in the occurrence of infection. Furthermore, it focused on accurate diagnostic methods and safe and effective control techniques to maintain the health of indoor ornamental plants.

The course covered several topics, including field diagnosis based on phenotypic symptoms, laboratory diagnostic methods (isolation and microscopic examination), molecular diagnosis, and modern techniques.

The researchers recommended focusing on such topics due to the importance of early detection of fungal diseases to reduce agricultural losses. Training agricultural personnel in field and laboratory diagnosis and adopting modern diagnostic techniques.
