The College of Education for Pure Sciences Organizes a Training Course on Safe Handling of Chemicals in Laboratories
The Chemistry Department at the College of Education for Pure Sciences organized a training course entitled “Safe Handling of Chemicals in Laboratories.”

This course aimed to familiarize participants with safe handling procedures for chemicals in laboratories, raising awareness among participants and promoting a culture of occupational safety within the laboratory work environment. It also aimed to provide participants with the fundamentals of chemical safety and proper methods for storing and transporting materials.
The course covered several topics, including the classification of chemicals and their properties, identifying different types of chemicals (flammable, toxic, corrosive, oxidizing, etc.), organizing the workspace, ensuring proper ventilation and cleanliness of the laboratory, and the correct and safe storage of chemicals.
The researchers emphasized the importance of focusing on such topics to emphasize the necessity of adhering to all safety instructions within the laboratory and the importance of consistently wearing personal protective equipment. They also recommended providing a laboratory safety manual. Updated and distributed to all students and researchers. Ongoing training for staff and students on emergency procedures and the proper use of firefighting equipment. Strict oversight of the storage and transport of hazardous chemicals in accordance with standard specifications.
