A Physics Department Faculty Member Receives PhD from the University of Baghdad
Assistant Lecturer Duaa Bashir Hassan from the Physics Department received her PhD from the College of Education for Pure Sciences (Ibn Al-Haytham) at the University of Baghdad for her dissertation entitled: “The Effectiveness of an Educational Program Based on the TEPAK Model in Scientific Inquiry and Comprehensive Thinking among Physics Students at the College of Education for Pure Sciences.”
The study aimed to identify the effectiveness of an educational program based on the TEPAK model in fostering scientific inquiry and comprehensive thinking among physics students at the College of Education for Pure Sciences. It also aimed to determine the program’s contribution to encouraging students to express their opinions, engage in discussions, ask questions, participate actively, and foster a spirit of healthy competition, flexibility in thinking, and problem-solving.
The study concluded that the program, which was based on the TEPAK model, demonstrated its effectiveness in both variables among the students in the research sample. The study also explored the possibility of teaching according to the TPACK model, a contemporary framework that emphasizes the integration of technological knowledge, subject matter knowledge, and teaching methodologies as key requirements for effective teaching using educational technologies.
The study recommended developing pre-service teacher preparation programs in faculties of education based on the philosophy and principles of the TPACK framework. These programs should aim to develop students’ abilities to integrate technology, its tools, and its electronic and virtual applications into the teaching of academic content. Furthermore, the study recommended focusing on developing teacher preparation programs and restructuring their content to align with the competencies of the TPACK model.
