The College of Education for Pure Sciences Organizes a Training Course on Common Errors in Preparing Histological Slides.

The Department of Biology at the College of Education for Pure Sciences organized a training course on common errors in preparing histological slides and how to avoid them.

The course was presented by:
Prof. Dr. Ashwaq Kazim Obaid
Asst. Lect. Huda Mu’ayyad Abdul-Ridha
Asst. Lect. Huda Sahib Abdul-Rasul

This course aims to develop the skills of Biology students in the field of histological preparation by highlighting common errors that may occur during the preparation of histological slides and explaining scientific methods for avoiding them in order to obtain accurate results and high-quality microscopic images.

The course covered the basic stages of histological preparation, starting with sample collection and fixation, through the processes of dehydration, impregnation, and embedding, and ending with cutting, staining, and mounting. It also focused on the scientific causes of common errors, such as poor fixation, cracking during cutting, or poor stain stability, and provided practical methods for avoiding these problems and improving the quality of histological slides.

The researchers recommended the need to pay attention to such topics, ensuring strict adherence to tissue preparation steps according to scientific standards to ensure accurate results, and providing approved standard chemicals and solutions in educational and research laboratories.
