A Scientific Lecture on the Occasion of World Octopus Day…

The Department of Biology held a scientific lecture entitled
“The Octopus… The Intelligent Creature of the Deep Sea”
on the occasion of World Octopus Day, celebrated on October 8th of each year, with the aim of highlighting one of the most intelligent and fascinating marine creatures.

The lecture addressed a number of scientific topics, most notably:
🔹 An introduction to the octopus and its species found in various seas and oceans.
🔹 Its distinctive anatomical and physiological characteristics, including its eight arms, three hearts, and blue blood.
🔹 Its ability to camouflage itself and change color and shape in amazing ways that help it escape predators.
🔹 Its intelligent behavior and ability to learn and solve problems, making it one of the most intelligent marine creatures.
🔹 The importance of the octopus in ecological balance and its role in the ocean food chain.

The lecture also emphasized the importance of preserving biodiversity in the marine environment and reducing pollution and overfishing to ensure the sustainability of marine organisms and their natural habitats.

At the conclusion of the lecture, the need to enhance environmental awareness and scientific research in the field of marine biology was emphasized, highlighting the role of Biology students in spreading a culture of environmental protection.
