The Department of Biology Holds a Seminar Discussion for a Doctoral Student on the Role of Cytokines in breast cancer development

A Seminar Discussion for a Doctoral Student

As part of the scientific activities organized by the Department of Life Sciences, a seminar was held for doctoral student Intisar Muhammad Kashash, supervised by Assistant Professor Dr. Qaisar Abdul Sajjad Muhammad and Assistant Professor Dr. Alaa Hussein Mahdi. The seminar was titled “The Role of Cytokines in Breast Cancer Development.”
This seminar aimed to clarify the importance of cytokines such as CXCL8 and CCL2, which play a dual role in breast cancer. They may contribute to the formation of the inflammatory environment surrounding the tumor, which promotes its growth and spread by stimulating cancer cell migration and increasing angiogenesis. These processes make cytokines potential targets for the development of new treatments aimed at reducing their harmful effects in breast cancer. They can also be tested as predictive criteria for early detection of the disease.
