The Meeting of the Minister of Education with the Russian Atomic Energy Enterprise

The minister of higher education and scientific research, the chairman of the Iraqi Atomic Energy Authority, Dr. Naim al-Aboudi, held a meeting with the director general of the Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation (ROSATOM) Alexey Likhachev to discuss areas of cooperation in the development of nuclear energy for peaceful and educational uses.
The minister of Education expressed his appreciation for the interest in Iraq’s participation in the international forum (ATOMEXPO-2024) in Sochi, while praising the depth of relations between the two friendly countries, clarified the course of the national vision of the Iraqi Atomic Energy Authority on the research reactor project, which is used for scientific and health purposes, and thanked the Russian side for providing scholarships to Iraqi students in the fields of nuclear energy engineering.
For his part, the director general of the Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation (ROSATOM) Alexey Likhachev expressed the readiness of the Russian side to cooperate and coordinate on the zero reactor, research reactor, nuclear power plants, the provision of fellowships in energy engineering, nuclear and Radiation Physics and the exchange of experiences between universities in accordance with the context of understanding agreed by the parties.
