The Department of Biology Discusses a Master’s Thesis on the Effect of an Insecticide on some Biological Parameters of the Southern Cowpea Beetle

Discussion of a Master’s Thesis

The Department of biology at the College of Education for Pure Sciences at the University of Karbala discussed a master’s thesis entitled (A comparative study of the effect of an insecticide on some biological parameters of the southern cowpea beetle before and after loading it onto a green nanocomposite), by the student (Sundos Yassin Shanin), under the supervision of (Asst. Dr. Mona Ibrahim Jassim).
The thesis aimed to study the effect of the hot aqueous extract of the Moringa plant, the nanocomposite, the plant-based pesticide, and the bio-based pesticide on the destruction of adult and immature stages of the southern cowpea beetle.
The thesis also included an extract from moringa leaves that has an effect on the mortality rates of the southern cowpea beetle, and an inverse relationship between the concentrations of the extract and the mortality rates, egg production, egg hatching, and seed germination.

The study recommended conducting studies on the effect of moringa leaf extract and the green nanocomposite on other insect and storage pests. Testing the effect of other plant extracts before and after converting them into a green nanocomposite on various aspects of the life of the southern cowpea beetle. Testing the interaction of other pesticides with the moringa extract and the green nanocomposite. On the survival of the southern cowpea beetle and other female storax insects. The student received an excellent grade
