A Lecturer from the Department of Biology Publishes a Scientific Research on Estimating the Chemical Components and Caloric Values of the Muscles of some Local Fish in the Holy City of Karbala

Publication of Scientific Research

The lecturer from the Department of biology (Prof. Dr. Muhammad Wissam Al-Muhanna) published a scientific research entitled (Estimation of chemical components and caloric values for muscles of some local fish in Karbala province, Iraq) in an international journal within the Scopus repository (ICCEPS TOP Publishing IOP Conf.Series: Materials Science and Engineering).
The research concluded by studying the results with a significant positive correlation between the length of the gill threads and the body length (0.9553 and 0.9881) in L. xanthopterus and C. zillii) respectively, and it was revealed that the length of the gill threads has a direct effect on the respiratory surface area, The relationship between surface area and body length was statistically significant, and the correlation coefficients were positive and significant (P < 0.05), so the values ranged between (0.9064 and 0.9757) in L. xanthopterus and C. zillii, respectively, and a positive correlation was recorded between the average diameters of each of the muscle fibers red and white and body length (0.9948 and 0.9886 in L. xanthopterus and C. zillii), respectively, there was a decrease in the diameter of the red and white muscle fibers towards the posterior region of the fish body in both species. We wish him more creativity and progress in the interested research fields in service of our beloved Iraq.
