The Department of Biology Discusses a Master’s Thesis on an immunological study of some surface markers in leukemia patients and those infected with the emerging corona virus

Discussion of a Master’s Thesis

The Department of Biology at the College of Education for Pure Sciences discussed a master’s thesis for the student (Raghad Reda Kazem) for her thesis entitled (An immunological study of some surface markers in leukemia patients and those infected with the emerging corona virus), under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. (Hiyam Abdel Reda Karim). The study came due to the novelty of the disease and the lack of shedding light on its relationship with the rest of the diseases. The study aimed to: Study the differences in the lymphatic immune response when infected with the emerging corona virus for both patients with cancerous blood diseases and patients without cancerous blood diseases. This goal is achieved by:
Study of cellular immune changes of lymphocyte immune cells (CD3 and CD4, CD16, CD56, CD19) in patients infected with coronavirus and leukemia patients with novel coronavirus using Flowcytometry technique. After the extensive scientific discussion and listening to the student’s defense of her thesis, the method of her research and her use of sources and references, the thesis was approved with honors. Congratulations to the student, to her supervisor, to the College of Education for Pure Sciences for this achievement, to the University of Karbala, and to more creativity in the service of our beloved Iraq, the Iraq of science and scholars, and from God Almighty success and payment.
