Head of the Department of Chemistry publishes a scientific article on environmental exposure to lead and its dangerous effects on the human body

Scientific Article

The head of the Department of Chemistry, Assistant Prof. Dr. (Sajid Hassan Kazar), obtained the approval of publishing a scientific article under the title (Environmental Exposure to Lead and its Dangerous Effects on the Human Body) by the Scientific Articles Committee at the Presidency of Karbala University after the article fulfilled all publication conditions. Prof. Dr. Sajid Hassan Kazar mentioned that lead is a heavy metal it is relatively ubiquitous and has special features such as corrosion resistance and enters a variety of industries. However, lead is a toxic and dangerous substance. Excessive use of it pollutes the environment on a large scale, exposes humans to harm, and causes major problems in public health around the world. It has many effects on behavior and growth, as well as affects various body systems. Lead can easily cross into the blood and is usually evaluated by measuring the level of lead in the blood, and the main parts What stores lead in the body are soft tissues and bones. Moreover, it can be found in hair, teeth, and nails. It is widely distributed in the body, especially in the liver, kidneys, and brain. It accumulates over time and thus causes cancerous diseases. It can be transmitted from the bones to the blood during pregnancy and the fetus becomes exposed to it during the development. It can cause a pregnant woman to miscarry, premature birth, and reduced birth size, and children who suffer from malnutrition are more likely to be poisoned by lead because their bodies absorb it in greater quantities.
