Students of the Department of Biology Hold an Awareness Activity Entitled [Crustaceans that are Beneficial to the Environment (Wood Lice)]

Student Awareness Activity

The students of the Department of Life Sciences at the College of Education for Pure Sciences held an awareness activity entitled (Crustaceans that are beneficial to the environment (wood lice)), under the supervision of each of the Prof. Dr. Esraa Nasser Ghulam and Dr. Mona Ibrahim Jassem. The aim of the activity was to educate students about the importance of crustaceans that are beneficial to the environment, as they have a major role in removing heavy metals that are harmful to humans from the soil, such as mercury, cadmium, lead and industrial waste. Since industrial waste is found in nature and not being stored causes the soil, water bodies and food to be polluted with carcinogenic heavy metals, these crustaceans clean the soil and aquifers.
