A Study in the College of Education for Pure Sciences Discusses the Spectroscopic and Chromatographic Determination of the Reversible Phase of Sitagliptin and Metformin in the Pure State and in Pharmaceutical Preparations.

Discussion of a Master’s Thesis

The Department of Chemistry, College of Education for Pure Sciences / University of Karbala, discussed the master’s thesis tagged (spectral and chromatographic determination – the reversible phase of sitagliptin and metformin in the pure state and in pharmaceutical preparations), for the student (Majid Hamid Al-Harr’s guide). The thesis aims to develop a simple, rapid and sensitive analytical method for the determination of both sitagliptin phosphate and metformin hydrochloride in their pure form and in some of their pharmaceutical preparations and pure raw materials.
The thesis showed that by calculating the RSD% and the recovery rate of the used methods, we can conclude that these two methods are highly accurate and therefore can be applied in estimating these drugs in their pure state and in their pharmaceutical preparations. The researcher recommended the use of the proposed analytical methods and HPLC technique to measure and evaluate other pharmaceutical compounds, the possibility of applying the proposed spectroscopic method to analyze different pharmaceutical models of physical state, and the possibility of using the chromatographic conditions present in this thesis to study the stability of different pharmaceutical formulations. The student was awarded with distinction.
