A professor from the College of Education for Pure Sciences Publishes a Scientific Article on the Efficiency of the Gujarat Plant in Inhibiting Fungi

A Scientific Article

One of the academic staff in the College of Education for Pure Sciences/Department of biology, the Assist. Prof. Antihar Jabbar Muhammad, obtained the acceptance to publish a scientific article titled (The Efficiency of Gujarat Plants in Inhibiting Fungi) by the Scientific Articles Committee at the Presidency of Karbala University after the article fulfilled all publication conditions. (Assist. Prof. Antar Jabbar Muhammad) mentioned that Gujarat is a type of medicinal plant, and it is a shrub that reaches a height of about two meters, and it has very beautiful red flowers, which are also grown for decoration. Gujarat (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) is a medicinal plant. Which belongs to the family of mallow plants (Malvaceae), and the origins of hibiscus are to South Asia, specifically India and Indonesia. It is currently cultivated in many countries of the world, especially in Sudan, Egypt, Thailand, China and Mexico, and Iraq is called Gujarat. Niacin, Riboflavin, Thiamine, Carotene, Vitamin ascorbic acid (C) and minerals such as Calcium Ca, Phosphorous P and Iron Fe, and Gujarat have many benefits, and through this article we will explain the efficiency of Gujarat in inhibiting fungi pathogenic to humans and plants. Several studies have been conducted that indicate the effectiveness of the Gujarat plant against the growth of some fungi and bacteria, including one study, it was found that the alcoholic extract of the Gujarat plant inhibited the growth of fungi A. flavus and A. parasiticus isolated from a group of a number of nutrients obtained from The local markets of Karbala governorate, as well as evaluating its ability to destroy aflatoxin B1, which is a poison dangerous to human health. The study also showed that the alcoholic extract of Gujarat had an inhibitory ability towards the growth of dermatophytes isolated from the skin, head hair and nails, which are: Trichophyton mentagrophytes, Trichophyton rubrum, Microsporum gypseum and Microsporum canis. Resins, and these active compounds are what give the high efficiency of Gujarat extract in its effect on the growth of dermatophytes.
