The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, discussed with the National Council for Accreditation of Medical Colleges in Iraq completing the requirements for international accreditation. During the meeting with the National Council for the Accreditation of Medical Colleges in Iraq, the Minister of Education, in the presence of the Undersecretary for Scientific Research Affairs, the Head of the Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Authority, and the Chairman of the Committee of Deans of Medical Colleges, stressed the need to proceed with the necessary procedural steps to obtain international accreditation for Iraqi medical colleges and renewed the support of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Enabling the National Accreditation Council to make its scientific decision independent in front of international organizations and councils and to complete its achievement in granting accreditation and the associated standards and procedures that would support the academic reputation of medical education in Iraq. For their part, the president and members of the National Accreditation Council explained that they are working according to specific timetables in light of the global contexts approved by the International Federation for Medical Education, while the Chairman of the Committee of Deans of Medical Colleges indicated that the specialized medical colleges are looking forward to completing the international accreditation procedures in coordination with the National Accreditation Council, which made a positive stride in this field.
