The Department of Life Sciences Discusses a Master’s Thesis on Evaluating the Preventive Role of the Aqueous Extract of Annon Squamosal Fruit

Discussion of a Master’s Thesis

The Department of Life Sciences at the College of Education for Pure Sciences at the University of Karbala discussed a master’s thesis entitled (Evaluation of the Preventive Role of the Aqueous Extract of Annon Squamosal Fruit on Some Functional Parameters and Liver and Kidney Tissues in White Male Rats Treated with the Drug Doxorubicin) by the student (Yasmine Ma’Allah Jafat), and under the supervision of (A. Dr. Ashwaq Kazem Obaid). The aim of the thesis was to test the effectiveness of the aqueous extract of Annona squamosa fruit in different doses as a preventive substance to reduce the toxic effects of Doxorubicin (DOX) on liver, kidney and heart tissue in male white rats and to study some histological and functional changes. The message included treatment with the drug doxorubicin to induce a state of oxidative stress, which was represented by a significant increase in the average level of liver enzymes (ALT, AST, ALP) and MDA, and the level of urea and creatine. The protective role of the aqueous extract of soursop fruit led to the neutralization of oxidative stress resulting from exposure to the drug doxorubicin. The letter recommended taking advantage of the active compounds in sour cream fruit extract after isolating it to reduce the toxicity induced by some chemicals. Study of the therapeutic effect of soursop fruit extract in male albino rats with induced diabetes. The student received an excellent grade.
