Master thesis discussion
The Department of Chemistry at the College of Education for Pure Sciences at the University of Karbala discussed a master’s thesis entitled (The effect of L-carnitine on some variables in patients with renal failure) by the student (Ertham Saeed Rahim), and under the supervision of (Professor Dr. Rehab Jassim Muhammad), (Prof. Dr. Ali Jassim Al-Sultani). The thesis aimed to find out the causes of chronic renal failure and to know the effect of L-carnitine on some variables of dialysis patients Evaluation of the levels of some electrolytes, including calcium and phosphate, and the extent of the effect of L-carnitine on the level of albumin, hemoglobin, Parathyroid hormone, and CPK enzyme. The thesis also showed that L-Carnitine deficiency is a common problem in patients with chronic renal failure, especially dialysis patients, and L-Carnitine deficiency in dialysis patients is one of the factors causing the development of heart disease and osteoporosis. The thesis recommended conducting future studies in the same field by searching for the basis of the results presented in this work. Follow-up of dialysis patients, especially those suffering from anemia and carnitine deficiency. Avoid giving L-Carnitine therapy to HD patients with seizures, blood allergies, and hypothyroidism patients. The student obtained an honors degree.
