Master Thesis Discussion
The Department of biology in the College of Education for Pure Sciences at the University of Karbala discussed a master’s thesis entitled (The Immunological and Physiological Study of a Sample of Iraqi Women Suffering from Breast Cancer in Muthanna Governorate) by the student (Nada Naim Shahd), and under the supervision of (Asst. Prof. Dr. Kaiser Abdel Sajjad Muhammad), (Asst. Prof. Dr. Alaa Hussein Al-Safi). The thesis aimed to investigate some biomarkers associated with breast cancer and the possibility of predicting its occurrence by finding the relationship between these indicators and the association with the infection by identifying some of the risk factors related to breast cancer, evaluating the levels of tumor markers TNF-α, IL-8, TGF-1ß in women with breast cancer at initial diagnosis. The thesis showed a relationship between some immunological and blood physiological parameters and the incidence of breast cancer. The existence of a relationship between elevated TNF-α, IL-8, TGF-1ß and Histological changes that occur in breast cancer tissue. The histological examination revealed the presence of multiple nuclei and the appearance of dense collagenous stroma, as well as the observation of atypical mitosis as an indication of some changes that occur in the tissue affected by breast cancer. The thesis recommended conducting a hormonal study to assess the role of female hormones as risk factors and their relationship to some immunological parameters of breast cancer. And the study of some histological variables of women with breast cancer and compared them with women without disease as clinical signs to monitor the progression of the disease. The student obtained an excellence degree.
