The Dean of the College of Education for Pure Sciences Obtained a Patent within a Research Team from the Universities of Karbala and Kufa

Patented

The Dean of the College of Education for Pure Sciences, Prof. Hamida Idan Salman, has obtained the esteemed patent titled “Reducing the high level of albumin in blood plasma using nano-zinc oxide” after completing the requirements for obtaining it from the Directorate of Patents and Industrial Models – Standardization and Quality Control.
The idea of the patent is based on the adsorption of albumin on the surface of nano-zinc oxide to reduce its percentage. A number of factors that affect the adsorption process have been studied, such as equilibrium time, amount of adsorbent, albumin concentration, temperature, acid function and stirring speed. The adsorption isotherms were also studied and thermodynamic functions were calculated. The results and measurements obtained confirmed the efficiency of nano-zinc oxide and its ability to adsorb albumin on its surface with a small amount of nano-zinc oxide after applying several experiments and in various conditions for the purpose of reducing the proportion of albumin. This idea (adsorption of albumin by nano-zinc oxide) can be applied in the manufacture of medical drugs or materials and tools needed to filter the blood and rid it of the high level of albumin in the blood due to the danger of its high percentage and the extent of its impact on human health, as it controls a group of important activities and an imbalance in its percentage may return And significantly to the occurrence of a defect or problems in the work of the kidneys or liver. We wish the Dean and the research team further progress and creativity to serve our dear university and our beloved Iraq.
