The Minister of Education Honored the Universities that Achieved Competitive Results in the Times Classification
The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, honored the Iraqi universities that achieved competitive results in the Times World Classification. This came during the celebration held by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research on the occasion of Iraq being ranked thirty-seventh in the world.
The Minister of Education stressed in his speech that this achievement was unprecedented in the history of the Iraqi university institution, which is distinguished by its heritage, uniqueness, leadership and scientific presence at the regional level, indicating at the same time that this success would not have been achieved without the combined efforts of everyone in the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and its universities and teaching bodies. Sincere and keen to consolidate and enhance academic reputation locally, regionally and globally.
He added that the results of the international classification, which placed Iraq in the thirty-seventh place in the world, bear a clear indication that the institution of higher education has a mission and vision linked to a strategy that has a tangible impact in managing reality and dealing with the requirements of the near and distant future and looking at them through a lens that gives clarity to roles and precise definition of responsibilities.
He continued that this achievement places double responsibility on everyone, starting with the minister, the university president, the college dean, and the head of the branch and department, in order to increase effectiveness in the teaching and learning environment and develop its academic programs, stressing that this path is the necessary path to achieving competitive advantage and the ability to improve the level of scientific production.
The Minister of Higher Education, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, expressed his thanks to the university administrations, teaching bodies, researchers and students who contributed to this achievement, which represents a tangible result and evidence of the rise of the academic quality index in the fields of teaching and scientific research. In the context of the ceremony, the Undersecretary for Scientific Research Affairs, Dr. Haider Abd Dahad, gave a comprehensive presentation of the results of the classification, its standards and indicators, which are distributed in the areas of education environment, research environment, quality of scientific research, international vision, and industry income.
At the end of the ceremony, which honored the universities that achieved positive ranks in the Times World Classification, which are Technology, Al-Nahrain, Al-Qadisiyah, Babylon, Diyala, Anbar, Baghdad, Basra, Karbala, Kufa, Central Technical University, Mosul, and Al-Mustansiriya, the Minister of Education stressed that the desired ambition in the coming days does not stop at the level of recommendations, but rather goes beyond that to the stage. The true embodiment of the programs responsible for academic modernization, programmatic accreditation, and capacity development so that the goals and mission of higher education in Iraq are achieved along the lines of advanced international experiences.
