Department of Chemistry at the College of Education for Pure Sciences Organizes a Training Course on (How to Use the ATR-FTIR Device)

Training Course

Department of Chemistry at the College of Education for Pure Sciences held a training course entitled (Using the ATR-FTIR Device), which was delivered by: (Asst.Lect. Muhammad Taher Issa), (Asst.Lect. Osama Hamid Rashid), (Asst.Prof. Dr. Sajid Hassan Kazar). The course aimed to introduce graduate students and researchers to the ATR-FTIR technology, how to read the diagrams provided by the device, and to identify the method for diagnosing effective groups in chemical compounds, in addition to identifying the ATR technology and get benefit from using it . The focus of the course on the first day was an introduction to FTIR technology and the scientific basis on which this technology is based.
The second day included a review of the most important active groups in the FTIR spectrum and how to diagnose and interpret them.
The third day included the ATR technology, its mechanism of action, and the advantages it offers compared to traditional FTIR devices were reviewed. Then, the most important features of the ATR-FTIR device, located in the service laboratory in the Department of Chemistry – College of Education for Pure Sciences, and the method of using the device and the accompanying program in diagnosing organic compounds, were reviewed.
