The College of Education for Pure Sciences Organizes a Training Course on How to Measure Blood Pressure and Blood Sugar in Humans
The Department of Biology at the College of Education for Pure Sciences organized a training workshop entitled “Training on How to Measure Blood Pressure and Blood Sugar in Humans.”
The workshop was presented by:
Prof. Dr. Ali Hussein Al-Akaishi
Asst. Lect. Bashair Ali Sakab
This course aimed to enhance participants’ basic clinical examination skills. The course included a detailed practical explanation of the measuring instruments and how to use them correctly. It also highlighted common errors in measurement procedures and how to avoid them to ensure accurate and reliable readings.
The course covered several topics, including an introduction to blood pressure and blood sugar monitoring devices, the types of devices (digital and manual), the features of each type, the components of the device, and how it works. It also covered the correct method for measuring blood pressure, sample preparation (finger pricking), and the types of test strips used.
The researchers recommended paying attention to these topics to ensure adherence to approved standard methods when conducting measurements, guaranteeing accuracy and reliability. They also recommended calibrating the devices periodically and checking the expiration dates of blood glucose test strips. Providing a suitable environment for examination in terms of quietness, proper seating, and moderate temperature.
