As part of the scientific and applied activities organized by the Department of Biology at the College of Education for Pure Sciences, a field lecture was held for second-year students near the university lake, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Israa Nasser Ghulam.
This lecture was part of an ongoing effort to enhance students’ practical skills by connecting the theoretical concepts they learn in the classroom to the surrounding environment and providing them with the opportunity to directly interact with the manifestations of biodiversity in the university environment.
The event included a comprehensive field tour around the lake to identify local and aquatic plant species and some insect organisms that inhabit the lake’s surroundings. A detailed explanation was provided regarding the ecological relationships that connect these organisms and their role in maintaining ecological balance.
The professor also highlighted the importance of preserving biodiversity within the university campus as a microcosm of the natural environment. At the end of the activity, the students expressed their satisfaction with this field experience, which enhanced their understanding of environmental concepts and contributed to developing their observation and scientific documentation skills.
