The workshop included several axes on how to transform (2500) dunums of barren desert land into land full of palm trees and varieties found in Iraq and varieties imported from outside Iraq by drilling wells and building artificial lakes relying on the Euphrates River with the efforts of those working on it.
The researchers called for attention to such topics in order to know the role of palm cultivation in being a real weapon in confronting desertification, as it is one of the trees most adaptable to harsh climatic conditions.
