Declaring that Balad and Nahrawan are Free of Radioactive Pollutants

The head of the Iraqi Atomic Energy Commission and the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, announced that the Balad base in Saladin Governorate and the Al-Nahrawan site in Al-Mada’in district in Baghdad are free of radioactive contaminants.
This came during a press conference in the presence of members of the Diwani Order Committee No. (23580), where Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi explained that the Iraqi national teams were able, within a record period, to remove radioactive contaminants at the base of the town in Salah al-Din Governorate and the Nahrawan site in Baghdad Governorate.
He added that the work comes within a national plan to remove pollutants, noting that the national monitoring teams conducted radiation surveys and concluded that the sites were completely free of pollutants and that the work was in accordance with national and international standards and requirements.
