The Minister of Higher Education Confirms the Contribution of Universities to Scientific Programs and Specialized Research to Combat Terrorism and Counter Extremism

Joint Scientific Conference with the Counter-Terrorism Service

The minister of higher education and scientific research, Dr. Naim al-Aboudi, stressed the contribution of university institutions to the development of scientific programs and specialized research in the field of combating terrorism and countering extremism.
This came in his speech during the joint scientific conference with the counter-terrorism service, where he explained that the Iraqi Counter-Terrorism Strategy paid attention to the role of higher education institutions in this area, and identified a number of policies aimed at strengthening the mission of these institutions in the areas of combating violent extremism leading to terrorism.
He added that universities make a positive contribution in this regard by spreading awareness and education programs, as well as giving scientific research a special dimension, conducting specialized studies and providing training opportunities through programs that qualify young people and enable them to face and resist negative thoughts and enhance their skills in critical thinking and problem solving.
For his part, the head of the Anti-Terrorism Service, Lieutenant General Karim Abboud Tamimi, praised the direct scientific work of the Ministry of higher education and scientific research and its universities in the fields of combating extremism and countering terrorism and contributing to the implementation of this national task in cooperation with the competent security institutions.
