The College of Education for Pure Sciences organizes a workshop on bacterial susceptibility testing

Workshop

The Department of Life Sciences at the College of Education for Pure Sciences organized a workshop on (testing the sensitivity of bacteria to antibiotics). Delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Alaa Abdul Hussein Al-Daami.
The workshop aimed to develop the scientific skills of postgraduate students on the problem of bacterial resistance to antibiotics and the necessity of diagnosing bacteria as sensitive or resistant to the antibiotics used to treat them.
The workshop also included a detailed explanation of the procedure for diagnosing bacteria ID at the species level, and the importance of performing an AST test (antigen susceptibility test) to determine which bacteria are sensitive or resistant. In addition to choosing the appropriate method from among the seven main methods for determining bacterial sensitivity to prescribe the appropriate antibiotic.
The researcher called for attention to such topics in order to develop graduate students in conducting a bacterial sensitivity test to a group of antibiotics, how to read test results, and its importance in determining the appropriate treatment for different types of bacteria pathogenic to humans.
