The Department of Chemistry at the College of Education for Pure Sciences at the University of Karbala discussed a master’s thesis entitled (New Barbiturate Derivatives as Biological Active Factors). For the student (Maryam Muhammad Hamza), and under the supervision of (Prof. Dr. Muhammad Nazim Bahjat) as the first supervisor, and (Prof. Dr. Muhannad Musa Karim) as the second supervisor. The thesis aimed to manufacture new pharmaceutical compounds and diagnose them using IR, HNMR, CNMR, and CHNS techniques to stabilize their synthesis, and then study the biological effect of these compounds by studying them as antibacterial agents and also studying them as anti-breast cancer agents through the MTT test, dosing new compounds into cancer cells, and also studying the effect of these compounds. Through the molecular docking program, the results showed that these compounds have very good effectiveness against bacteria and breast cancer through the cancer cell line, and also through the molecular docking program. Compound M8 was the best among 10 new manufactured compounds, and it may be a promising treatment against types of other cancers. The student received an excellent grade.
