The Department of Biology Discusses a Master’s thesis on Evaluating the Effectiveness of Propolis on Diabetic Foot Patients

Discussion of a Master’s Thesis

The Department of biology at the College of Education for Pure Sciences at the University of Karbala discussed a master’s thesis entitled (Evaluating the effectiveness of propolis on patients with diabetic foot) by the student (Hoda Muhammad Saleh Shaheen), and under the supervision of (Prof. Dr. Hayam Abdel Reda Karim).
The aim of the thesis was to isolate and diagnose Acinetobacter Baumannii Bacteria from diabetic foot ulcer patients. And evaluating the effectiveness of the alcoholic extract of crude Propolis on Acinetobacter Baumannii Bacteria. The message also included the synergistic action of the alcoholic extract of Propolis with the Dermacin solution, which gave an inhibitor to the bacteria. The rate of diabetic foot ulcers is higher in males than in females.
The letter recommended a study to evaluate the effect of propolis on the anaerobic bacteria responsible for the severity of diabetic foot ulcers. Studying the chemical components of propolis, extracting the effective ones, applying them using nanotechnology in the form of a bandage, and applying them to wounds, especially the elderly. The student received an excellent grade.
