The Department of Biology Discusses a PhD Thesis on Evaluating the Role of Alpinia Officinarum Extract Against induced Reproductive Toxicity

PhD Dissertation Discussion

The Department of Biology in the College of Education for Pure Sciences at the University of Karbala discussed a doctoral dissertation entitled (Evaluating the role of Alpinia officinarum extract against reproductive toxicity induced by Bisphenol A in male white rats), by the student (Mahdi Hamza Khashan Al-Jubouri), and supervised by (Prof. Dr. Rasha Abdul-Amir Jawad ), (Prof. Dr. Naseer Mirza Hamzah).
The aim of the thesis was to evaluate the protective role of the extract against reproductive toxicity changes caused by treatment with bisphenol A. The thesis showed that the alcoholic extract of the smaller rhizomes of galangal at a concentration of 400 mg / kg has a high antioxidant activity as a result of its containing many effective compounds that belong to the groups of phenols and flavonoids, which gives it the ability to prevent or reduce physiological, histological and molecular changes.
The thesis recommended conducting more studies to evaluate the therapeutic and preventive efficacy of the extracts of this plant against disorders resulting from the impact of diseases and environmental pollutants on the organs and organs of the body such as the respiratory system, liver, stomach, stomach and kidneys. The student obtained an excellent grade.
