The Department of Biology Holds a Scientific Forum on How to Use propolis as an Anti-Cancer Cell

Scientific Forum

The Department of Biology at the College of Education for Pure Sciences organized a scientific forum hosted by (Prof.Dr. Yasmine Khudair Khalaf), a lecturer in the Department of biology. The forum was attended by a group of lecturers and researchers interested in this topic. Where the aim was to find out the use of propolis as an anti-cancer cell due to its anti-cancer efficacy, and by experimenting with the alcoholic extract of propolis on the colon cancer cell line (SW480), which showed effective results in eliminating these cells, and this indicates the necessity of using secondary metabolite products as alternatives to treatments. which have side effects on the patient.
The researcher called for attention to such topics because the results of the current study show the effects of ethanolic propolis extract on colon cancer cell lines in humans by using six serial concentrations of ethanolic extract (1000, 500, 250, 125, 62.5, 31.25) mg/ml for some time of exposure. (24) hours, where the toxicity was calculated based on the percentage rate of cell inhibition (Inhibition Rate) after exposing the cells to the ethanol propolis extract and compared to the control, as the anti-cancer effect of propolis (toxic effect on cancer cells) increases with increasing concentration. We wish for more creativity and progress in the field of scientific activities aimed at serving our dear college, and from God Almighty, success and payment.
