The Biology Department at the College of Education for Pure Sciences organized a scientific symposium on (Studying the Effect of MSG on the Genetic Material of Cells). It was delivered by the lecturer (Asst. Prof. Radhia Najm Abdul). This workshop aimed to identify the harmful effects of monosodium glutamate on the genetic material. The workshop also included several axes on the changes that occur in the sperm heads of white mice and the extent to which it causes infertility in men, hyperactivity and weight gain in children when consuming high amounts of this substance. The researcher recommended paying attention to such topics because of the interactions and effects of this substance on changes in the metabolic rate as a result of causing an increase in blood sugar levels and a decrease in the percentage of antioxidant defenses.
