The Dean of the College of Education for Pure Sciences, Prof. Dr. Hamida Eidan Salman, attended the annual festival organized by the University of Kerbala on the occasion of Kerbala Day, which coincides with the birth of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) every year. The festival activities, which were titled “Hussein (peace be upon him) is a shining beacon for nations to follow”, were attended by the Governor of Kerbala, Eng. Naseef Jassim Al-Khattabi, the Chairman and members of the Provincial Council, a number of directors of government departments, the Director of the United Nations Office for Food and Agriculture in the province, Ali Kamouna, and a group of presidents and deans of universities, colleges and students. The President of the University of Kerbala, Prof. Dr. Sabah Wajid Ali, said in a speech he delivered to the attendees that “Kerbala Al-Hussein today is no longer just a place of remembrance and worship, but has become an important cultural, educational and religious center, as it hosts many schools, seminaries and cultural centers that contribute to spreading the sciences of the Ahl al-Bayt and the teachings of Islam.” The university president called for following in the footsteps of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) in various aspects of life, pointing out that students have the right to be proud of this glorious journey and make it a beacon for them.
For his part, the governor of Kerbala pointed out that “the curriculum of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) is the curriculum of a message of a dignified life, noting that the local government in Karbala is moving forward with all its might towards progress and prosperity, benefiting from all the beacons of knowledge in it, stressing its continuation with the curriculum of construction, reconstruction and development.”
