The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, confirmed the ministry’s commitment and continuous diligent work to enhance and develop the paths of scientific research, global publishing and postgraduate programs.
This came in his speech at the ceremony honoring the winners of the Iraqi Science Day in the presence of the members of the advanced staff, university presidents, the Dean of Academics, deans of colleges and a crowd of teachers, researchers and students, where he explained that the interest in science and scientific research was and still is the cornerstone of the performance of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and its institutions, and it is the identity that dominates the work and employment spaces of Iraqi universities, their colleges and specialized departments.
The Minister of Education continued that the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has succeeded, thanks to the efforts of its specialized scientific staff, in internationalizing higher education, establishing common understandings between its universities and their foreign counterparts, exchanging scholarships and study and research opportunities, attracting more than three thousand international students, and the return of international forums to Baghdad, the last of which was the work of the forty-sixth session of the meetings of the Federation of Arab Scientific Research Councils, which was hosted by the University of Baghdad. He reiterated that there is a commitment, keenness, and diligent work by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to enhance and develop scientific research paths, global publishing, and graduate studies programs, pointing out that these intensive measures are sufficient to raise the level of quality and performance of academic, educational, and research institutions and give the necessary momentum to the effectiveness of the teaching process. The ceremony included a speech by the Director General of the Research and Development Department, Dr. Lubna Khamis Mahdi, and an explanation of the scientific outputs presented and the award criteria, while the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, concluded the occasion by honoring the winners of the Science Day Awards, which included the best university, the distinguished research center, the distinguished research unit, the distinguished scientific journal, the distinguished university library, the distinguished scientific research, the group voluntary encouragement work, the distinguished authored or translated book, the distinguished patents, the distinguished scientific journal, the distinguished graduation project, and the distinguished researcher.
