Closing Ceremony of the “Memory of Pain and Flame of Hope” Competition

The respected Dean of the College of Education for Pure Sciences, Prof. Dr. (Hamida Eidan Salman), participated in the closing ceremony of the “Memory of Pain and Flame of Hope” competition.
The University of Karbala hosted the closing ceremony of the “Memory of Pain and Flame of Hope” competition, which was launched by the Voluntary Development and Advancement Team with the participation of eight universities across Kerbala Governorate.
The competition, which was organized by the Voluntary Development and Advancement Team, coincides with the International Human Rights Day with the aim of raising awareness of the crimes of the Baath Party and confronting attempts to obscure the facts of the past related to the crimes committed by the Baath regime.
The closing ceremony was attended by the assistants to the university president for administrative and scientific affairs, Prof. Dr. Jassim Al-Barrak and Prof. Dr. Haider Muhammad, the head of the Martyrs Foundation, and a number of members of the local government.
The President of Kerbala University, Prof. Dr. Sabah Wajid Ali, recalled the crimes committed by the Baath regime during its rule in Iraq, noting that “history will curse those pages, and they are dark pages of embers in which Iraqis tasted all forms of pain and woes.” For his part, the head of the Martyrs Foundation, Abdul-Ilah Al-Naili, confirmed that “the foundation seeks to support this competition to be implemented at the level of Iraq, as it is a qualitative event organized by a group of aware youth with the aim of shedding light on the crimes of the Baath.” The supervisor of the Voluntary Development and Advancement Team, Dr. Muhammad Sahib, stated that “the competition represents part of the attempts to compensate the moral damage to the families of martyrs and those affected by the defunct regime, and 176 students from various universities in Kerbala Governorate participated in it. Kerbala University won first place in the competition, in which teams from different universities participated.
