The Department of Biology Organizes a Scientific Workshop on the Random Use of Antibiotics

Workshop

The Department of Biology at the College of Education for Pure Sciences organized a scientific workshop on the random use of antibiotics. It was presented by Prof. Dr. (Nasir Mirza Hamza).
The workshop aimed to define antibiotics because they are drugs used to treat bacterial infections, and they are ineffective against viral infections? In most cases of infection, antibiotics kill bacteria or prevent them from multiplying, which helps the body’s natural defenses to eliminate them.

The workshop also included several axes on the classification of antibiotics, as antibiotics are classified according to their origin into natural antibiotics, synthetic antibiotics, and compound antibiotics. In addition to this classification, antibiotics can be classified into two broad groups according to their effect on microorganisms, as they are classified into bactericidal antibiotics and antibiotics that inhibit bacterial growth.
The researcher recommended the need to pay attention to such topics to know the advantages of topical use that achieve a high and continuous concentration of antibiotics at the site of infection, in addition to reducing the possibility of systemic absorption and toxicity, and reducing the total volumes of antibiotics required, thus reducing the risks of misuse of antibiotics.
