Publishing a Scientific Research

The lecturer, Dr. (Ziad Tariq Habib), the head of the Chemistry Department at the College of Education for Pure Sciences, published a scientific research entitled (Effect of cigarette smoking on some electrolytes levels in men living in the city of Karbala), in an international journal (AIP Conference Proceedings) within the quarter (Q4) in Scopus containers.
The research aimed to show the effect of smoking on some minerals in the serum. This study was conducted to show the effect of cigarette smoking on some elements such as potassium, sodium, magnesium and calcium in the serum of a selected group of men who have had a smoking habit for at least 3 years. Ninety healthy adult men aged (25-40) years participated in this study.
The research also included dividing them into three groups, the first group included thirty healthy adult men; Their daily consumption was (10-25) cigarettes (Group A). The second group included thirty healthy adult men; Their daily consumption was (26-40) cigarettes (Group B). The third group included thirty healthy adult male volunteers who served as a control group or (Group C). In this study, we found that there were no statistically significant differences (P>0.05) in serum levels of potassium, sodium, magnesium or calcium in Group A of male volunteers who consumed 10-25 cigarettes per day or 26-40 cigarettes per day (Group B) for 3 years, when compared to each other and to age-matched men from the control group (Group C). The study found statistically significant differences between groups and across ages.
