The Women’s Affairs Unit at the College Organizes a Scientific Symposium on Sustainable Agriculture: Towards Producing Safe and Environmentally Friendly Food

The Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Education for Pure Sciences organized a scientific symposium on (Sustainable Agriculture: Towards Producing Safe and Environmentally Friendly Food). It was delivered by both lecturers (Asst. Lect. Alia Abdullah Hantoush) and (Asst. Lect. Hawra Hamza Obaid). The symposium aimed to introduce the concept of sustainable agriculture as an integrated agricultural system that achieves sufficient, healthy, and profitable agricultural production, without harming the environment to achieve the use of land and natural resources in a scientific manner that achieves an increase in production to meet basic human needs. The workshop also included several axes on the basics of sustainable agriculture and the interconnected relationship with food security and how to choose the means to help achieve sustainable agriculture in terms of the irrigation system and following the scientific agriculture method and urban agriculture within cities. The researcher called for attention to such topics due to the importance of agriculture in providing safe food for the population throughout the year while preserving the soil from deterioration so that actual sustainability can be achieved.
