Publishing a Scientific Research
The lecturer, Lecturer Dr. (Shaima Malik Yasser) from the Department of Biology at the College of Education for Pure Sciences, published a scientific research entitled Study the effect of the drug mebetalin on the skeletal system and some anatomical signs in albino rat embryos during the late stage of gestation, in a local journal (Journal of the University of Kerbala). The research aimed to know the therapeutic dose of the drug mebetalin at a dose of 135 mg, which is a drug described as an antispasmodic and antispasmodic, and it also works to directly relax the smooth muscles in the digestive tract and relieve the pain of cramps in it. 10 pregnant white rats belonging to the Rattus Ratus species were taken. The study included two groups, each containing five pregnant rats: the first five pregnant females were treated with distilled water only and left as control animals, while the other five pregnant rats were injected intraperitoneally with Mebitalin from the third day until the twentieth day of pregnancy at a rate of one dose per day. On the twentieth day of pregnancy, the animals were injected with the last dose in the morning, after which the female rats were dissected after anesthesia. After that, the uterine horns and fetuses inside them were extracted, and the weights of the fetuses and placentas were measured, and the structural deformities of these fetuses were studied after clearing their skeletons. The study found a significant decrease (P<0.05) in body length and lengths of the upper and lower limbs in the group of pregnant rats treated with Mebitalin for twenty days of pregnancy compared to the group of treated pregnant rats.
