The Department of Chemistry Discusses a Master’s Thesis on the Preparation and Characterization of Schiff Ligands Derived from Aromatic Amines and a Number of Their Metal Complexes
The Department of Chemistry at the College of Education for Pure Sciences at the University of Kerbala discussed a master’s thesis entitled (Preparation and Characterization of Schiff Ligands Derived from Aromatic Amines and a Number of Their Metal Complexes with a Study of Some of Their Thermodynamic Properties) by the student (Salwa Jassim Haji), and under the supervision of (Asst. Prof. Dr. Shatha Abdul Amir Jawad). The thesis aimed to prepare two new ligands from Schiff compounds by the sublimation method derived from a dicarbonyl ketone group. And to characterize the prepared ligands using visible-ultraviolet techniques, infrared spectroscopy, proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, and mass spectrometry. And to use the prepared ligands in forming complexes with metal ions (nickel, copper, zinc, cadmium and mercury). The study recommended studying the possibility of using ligandin in the spectral estimation of many transition and non-transition element ions in different media by forming colored complexes with these ligands, which are used in spectral estimation in the fields of medicine and drugs. Studying the effect of solvents on the spectra of these complexes. The student received an excellent grade.
