The ceremony of handing over and receiving the presidency of the university took place at the University of Kerbala today, Sunday 8/18/2024, as Prof. Dr. Sabah Wajid Ali assumed his position as President of the University, succeeding Professor Dr. Basem Khalil Nayel Al-Saeedi. The ceremony was attended by the Chairman of the Higher Education Committee in the Provincial Council, Dr. Mohsen Al-Kanani, the Assistant President of the University for Administrative Affairs, Prof. Dr. Akram Mohsen Al-Yasiri, and his Assistant for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Dr. Najm Abdul Hussein Al-Janabi, and the deans of colleges and a number of heads of administrative departments in the university presidency. Prof. Dr. Sabah Wajid indicated that the University of Karbala has a prestigious position in academic circles that must be preserved, praising the achievements made by his predecessor in the scientific and urban fields. Dr. Wajid stressed the need for concerted efforts by everyone in order to advance the university and its position regionally and internationally. For his part, the former university president, Prof. Dr. Bassem Khalil Nayel Al-Saeedi, expressed his wishes to Dr. Sabah Wajid to achieve more success in managing the mother university and directing it towards the best scientific performance befitting its academic status, indicating his continued support to the university at all levels. Prof. Dr. Hamida Eidan Salman, Dean of the College of Education for Pure Sciences, congratulated Prof. Dr. Sabah Wajid Ali during her attendance at the handover ceremony at the university presidency on the occasion of his assumption of the position of President of the University of Karbala. The dean wished him success in his new mission entrusted to him and to work with one hand to provide everything that would raise the scientific level of the university and students and provide the best and improve their educational and academic reality. The Dean of the College also expressed her great thanks and gratitude to the former President of Karbala University, Prof. Dr. Basem Khalil Al-Saeedi, during his presidency of Karbala University, who during that period presented a scientific and urban achievement that brought about a qualitative leap in the university’s progress, in addition to working in the spirit of one team during his presidency of the University Council in order to advance and bring about a scientific revolution and raise the name of Karbala University among the ranks of Iraqi, Arab and international universities.
