Discussion of a Master’s Thesis

The Department of Life Sciences at the College of Education for Pure Sciences at the University of Karbala discussed a master’s thesis entitled (A taxonomic, anatomical and Chemical Study of Species of the Genus Centaurium from the Family Gentianaceae in Iraq and Comparing Their Inhibitory Effectiveness Against Some Pathogenic Fungi) by the student (Nour Jawad Kazim), under the supervision of Prof. Dr. (Nepal Amtar Trad).
The thesis aimed to study the vegetative and reproductive parts from several aspects such as appearance, anatomical and surface covering, a scanning study using an electron microscope and chemically active materials, in addition to studying the inhibitory effectiveness of species extracts against some pathogenic fungi and yeasts.
The study recommended the need to expand the field of morphological and anatomical study using the transmission electron microscope as well as the scanner to search for new taxonomic evidence that supports the precise characteristics of the species. And studying species from the molecular and cellular side by studying the genetic sequence, the number of chromosomes and their behavior during the stages of meiosis. The student received an excellent grade.
